Substitute Receipts

When entering items in the Item Master, you have the ability to identify parts that can be substituted for each other.  In Oracle Purchasing, you can receive predefined substitute items when you allow suppliers to ship alternatives to the item you order. To overcome this we need to enable Allow Substitute Receipts in receiving options. We can override this option at PO level.  
MCR PO > Setup > Organizations > Receiving Options

Create item (MI-Sub01) in the item master:  
MCR INV > Items > Master Items and Apply finished goods template

Create item relationship with MI-Item01:

Navigation: Items > Item Relationships > New

Now create PO through Purchase Orders > Purchase Orders in MCR PO Responsibility

In the Receiving Controls of shipments, we can observe that Allow Substitute Receipts enable from receiving options.
Now when we receive the goods, system will allow you to receive even for item MI-Sub01, since we gave relationship as substitute item for MI-Item01.MCR PO > Receiving > Receipts with PO Number 3017

UnOrdered Receipts

You can receive items from a supplier when you do not have or do not know a corresponding purchase order number.  These items are tracked on the system while you wait for a buyer to specify which purchase order should be used, or if the items are to be returned to the supplier.

Note: We can receive the goods without PO at receiving point but when we delivering the goods to inventory that time we need a PO reference.

Enable Allow Unordered Receipts check box at Receiving Options

MCR PO > Setup > Organizations > Receiving Options
 
Now we will receive the goods without PO through Unordered button.
Receiving > Receipt > Unordered Button, Enter supplier name and save.

Enter the line details, here destination type allows only Receiving and save.

Note the receipt number. Now we will do receiving transactions through Receiving > Receiving Transactions.

If we search based on receipt number, we will get invalid receipt message.

Now create PO and approve.
Note: For unordered receipts, Po receiving control at shipment level must be either Standard Receipt or Inspection Required.
